Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
How purefalcontrail.com uses cookies and similar technologies.
What they are
Small text files saved on your device that help websites function and measure usage.
Types we use
- Necessary — run the Site and store your cookie choice;
- Analytics — aggregated statistics on visits and popular stories;
- Advertising — if enabled, measure and personalise ads from partners.
Your choice
Non-essential cookies load only after you click "Accept". You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's privacy settings.
What the Site stores
One item: pft_ck, kept in your browser's local storage. It records whether you pressed "Accept" (1) or "Decline" (0) on the banner, so we don't ask again on every story. It stays until you clear it — the "Change cookie settings" link above deletes it on the spot. It holds no name, email or reading history.
What runs today
Right now the Site loads no analytics or advertising scripts, whatever you choose on the banner. The Analytics and Advertising lines above describe what the banner is there to control if we add either later. Before that happens we will name each provider here, list what it stores and for how long, and change the date at the top. Nothing in those two groups will run unless you have accepted.
Fonts
Pure Falcon Trail is set in Bricolage Grotesque, Source Serif 4, JetBrains Mono and Shippori Mincho, served by Google Fonts. Loading them means Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google says the Fonts service does not set cookies or log requests for advertising.
Photos
Every photograph on the Site is a file on our own server. Opening a story does not connect you to the photo libraries the images originally came from, and no third party learns which stories you look at through the pictures.
The Trail Letter and the contact form
Subscribing to the Trail Letter or sending us a message does not set a cookie. What you type is handled under our Privacy Policy.
Browser controls
You can view and delete stored site data in Chrome (Settings → Privacy and security), Safari (Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data), Firefox (Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data) and Edge (Settings → Cookies and site permissions). Clearing data for purefalcontrail.com only removes your banner choice; the stories keep working.
Outbound links
Under each photo, the credit links to the photographer's page on Pexels. Nothing loads from Pexels until you click that link. Once you do, you are on their site and under their cookie rules, not ours.
Server logs
Whoever hosts a website sees the basic details of each request: IP address, time, the page asked for and the browser that asked. That happens without cookies and without anything being saved on your device. We use such records only to find broken pages and to stop abuse, for example a crawler pulling the whole archive at once. We don't use them to build a picture of what you read, and we don't combine them with Trail Letter or contact-form data.
If you decline
Pressing "Decline" changes nothing you can see. Every story, trail and photo works the same way, the newsletter form still works, and the banner stays away because your choice is saved in pft_ck. The only difference shows up later: if we ever add analytics or advertising, a "Decline" keeps both switched off for you.
Shared and work devices
The banner choice is stored per browser, not per person. If several people use one computer, or you read on a work laptop with managed settings, the choice made by the first reader applies to everyone on that browser until someone resets it. Private or incognito windows forget the choice when you close them, so the banner will come back next time.
Found something we missed?
If the Site stores anything on your device that isn't listed here, tell us at hello@purefalcontrail.com. Say which browser you use and what you saw. We'll check it and fix either the Site or this page, whichever is wrong. We'd rather hear about it than let the policy drift away from what the code actually does.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects what we store, the banner will ask you again.
